Dad's RetirementIn the early morning hours of February 24, 1998, our most precious husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather & loyal friend received the ultimate healing, as he closed his weary eyes on a cold, impersonal sterile hospital room in Meadville, Pennsylvania & in the 'twinkling of an eye', opened them on heaven's golden shores...in the presence for all eternity ofthe One who loves him most. Dad's kindness', laughter, sense of humor & compassion for others are greatly missed by all who knew and love him. We remember his deep love for the Lord and endeavor to live by his philosophy
. . . "take life one day at a time" and "make your words sweet because you may have to eat them." We pray he knew "he was our hero. . ."

Please pray God's Comforting Spirit will continue to surround my family especially my mother, June, my siblings, Randy, Lyndon, Lorndale & Ivasue, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as other family members and a large circle of friends and acquaintances.

Although the past years have been a time of many emotional ups and downs, as we learn to live in a world without our Dad, we have truly felt your intercession. Thank-you once again for your

We would like to share the following poem which has been a source of comfort to our family. We pray it will bring encouragement to all who read it. It portrays a picture of death, which is to every believer, truly a joyous 'homegoing'. The Lord graciously gave Karen His strength and grace to read it at our Dad's 'homegoing' services. We believe Dad would have been pleased.

A Parable of Immortality

"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spread her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, "There she goes!"

Gone where? Gone from my sight -- that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, 'There she goes!' There are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, 'Here she comes!'"

The first Christmas without our Dad God sent our family a very special letter via a mutual friend. We pray it will be a comfort to all who are mouring the loss of a loved one. It is entitled"My First Christmas in Heaven."
